Recent Research on Men's Groups:

Over the past two-years Impotence Australia has researched in the area of men's health groups. One study called the Men's Doctors Project 2002 found that contrary to popular belief men are wanting to attend groups to discuss sexual functioning. A more recent study has shown that there are few outlets for men to access information about sexual health. Health professionals express that they perceive a need for men's groups, as well as staff training. If you have any comments on men's groups please email us: here

WANTED
Impotence Australia will be embarking on several erectile dysfunction awareness and education campaigns this year. We are looking for YOUR help in the following ways: men and couples who will assist in sharing their story with the media, such as, television, radio and newspaper.

Talking to your doctor about sex.
Well known social commentator and former sex therapist, Bettina Arndt is researching how doctors handle sexual problems. She’d love to hear any stories you might have about trying to talk to your doctor about sexual matters, particularly issues concerning erections/ impotence etc . If you have tried to seek help from your doctor, what reaction did you get? Did you feel they handled it well? Were they helpful? Or embarrassed and uncomfortable? Were female doctors better or worse? Are there doctors who you wouldn’t dare approach about this issue? If so, what makes you feel they wouldn’t handle it well.
Bettina is interested in stories about GPs and doctors working in sexual clinics. Let her know about anything that concerned you about your treatment.
All stories, anecdotes, comments and jokes most welcome. Please send urgently to arndtbettina@gmail.com. Many thanks.

New Project
Impotence Australia will be commencing a new project where we are wanting to collect people’s stories of their experiences in seeking help for their sexual concerns. We are looking for positive and negative experiences. This project is in direct response to consumer focus groups we ran late last year where it was identified that consumers were wanting to know of other people’s experiences. The information for this project will be used in a few ways. A section on IA website will be created where people’s experiences will be posted. The information will inform another project which is the development of a consumer’s sexuality services guidelines, including a complaints kit. More details will posted in the coming week.
